Could someone tell me what I need to rip a dvd to an mp3. I'm thinking I need to get some software that copies a dvd to cd and then load onto my mp3 player. Am i close. If so what software do I use.

ripping dvds to mp3 is literally the biggest pain in the ass.

it takes a while. you gotta rip the AC3 encode it, then split it, and then reencode.
