I think everybody here would agree using a DVD to play CD is never as good. However, does anybody use a dvd/sacd player and find that the sacd sound is good?

The hardware I am looking at are the Cambridge audio DVD99 vs a Sony basic model (forgot the no.) sacd/cd player. Both got multi channel.

I appreciate it if anybody can charm in. The main concern is the sacd part.

I have the Cambridge DVD89 and it's fair at best for both redbook and SACD. I just sold my Pioneer Elite DV-48A which was even worse for SACD. If I had to do it all again, I'd get a used Sony DVP S9000. However, if I had to chose between the CA and a basic Sony, I'd go for the CA.

Good luck!

I use an Integra dps-10.5 thats sacd/dvd-a/dvd/cd and i think it matches anything I had
standalone in the past and it should for 2500.00 retail.

I know. I like CA better as well. The only concern is, if it is merely a dvd player pretends to be a serious sacd player.
