I have a friend looking for long lasting IEM's that isolate. It would also be nice if they are commonly available.

I would say S4 but I hear the cable is no-so-good.

actually I owned the NE-7 and if you can convince your freinds to spend just a bit more money these are a GREAT sounding entry level IEM as well http://mp4nation.net/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=62_69&products_id=390

The new Brainwavz ProAlpha sounds very similar to the M2, is $20 cheaper, and is built better to boot. Unfortunately mp4nation isn't what I'd call readily available but maybe with some convincing...

The JVC HA-FXC80 is another one I can suggest. Not the most consumer-friendly sound but very good nonetheless and well-built, too.

if you're trying to introduce him to hi-fi, isn't it easier just to give him an inexpensive pair for Christmas? S4s or HJE900s won't break the bank... :3

Nice try, mralexosborn's friend

If you look in joker's sig, he has a thread with 118 IEMs (more coming!) reviewed in a very orderly fashion.  I suggest you start there.  Theres a whole bunch of sub-$50 IEMs in there.
