We've finally made the announcement here: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/oh-so-pro-all-new-dunu-eclipsƎ-products-falcon-pro-zen-pro.959754/

The official webpage is here, where it is available now from our direct shop:
https://www.dunu-topsound.com/zen-pro

Those who are looking for the ECLIPSƎ experience, but with a lower price tag might be interested in the FALCON PRO:
https://www.dunu-topsound.com/falcon-pro

So what's the "catch" with 'FALCON PRO'?? Why is the price so much lower than your other ECLIPSƎ offerings. Or is it just part of the "trickle-down effect" in order to serve more customers?? Anyways a very interesting product announcement nevertheless :gs1000smile::gs1000smile:

  1. FALCON PRO has a much larger production run than the other models, meaning the costs are lower for each unit.
  2. The new Q-Lock LITE modular cable system was designed to be more affordable than the existing Q-Lock PLUS system. It uses friction grooves instead of a locking sleeve ring mechanism, so it's definitely not nearly as complex nor as costly to manufacture.
  3. The driver dome is DLC-coated (via PECVD, like basically every other DLC driver out there) on a polymer base. It's not a full metal/alloy dome. So even the PECVD process is different. We use arc-PVD for the ZEN/ZEN PRO's nanoDLC process because it's high temperature and the metal can take it, resulting chemically in a very different DLC composition. The surround is still fully independent, like the ZEN/ZEN PRO and LUNA, so it's still complicated to manufacture (still the challenge of ECLIPSƎ), but after two years, we've gotten a lot better and more efficient at it.

I really appreciate how Dunu has become one of the most transparent manufacturers out there. Especially for those of us who have to make our purchasing decisions basically purely on the basis of what’s on the internet.

Thank you for your adequate and thorough explanation and transparancy. It's great to see there are still manufactures that use craftmanship and technology to interest and educate/convince their prospects. Since lately more and more manufactures are making use of 'controversial' drawings and figurines to sell their goods instead. I guess that explains why you guys are in this business for over 15 years. Hats off to you :raised_hands:

Thanks for the votes of confidence! When we rededicated ourselves to being in the international audio community, we set out trying to be as open as possible and as forward thinking as we can be. By doing so, we're hoping enthusiasts can gain a better understanding of and appreciation for what we do to build specialized products for what is arguably a niche audience.

What is the price of the Falcon Pro? Cannot find it anywhere.

Falcon Pro frequency response with “reference“ nozzles:

As I understand, it’s a very slight “V-shaped” type. Or am I wrong?

I believe the classic v shape emphasizes upper mids over 2k/presence region, but I don't think you're necessarily wrong- just depends on what you are using as a neutral reference point. (all the usual caveats about manufacturer provided graphs, no comparisons, etc... although at least Dunu say it's uncompensated).

This looks sort of like if you took the westone/UE style warm-sounding "flat neutral" and decongested/cooled it off a bit. Zen Pro on the other hand looks like a straightforward Harman IEM (which some people have begun to consider neutral, but that's a whole other wormhole...).

I guess I'm more inclined toward DF/Etymotic as neutral, so would probably agree with your assessment & consider this graph as indicating sort of "fun neutral" or "slight v" since it appears to have more bass and upper mids than typical Ety. I think of my Sony N3 as a relaxed or dark "v" and this looks kind of similar (probably less bass but hard to say w/ all the measurement caveats).

Can anyone explain what the effect of the high impedance of the SA6 would be when using a smartphone as a driver? @illumidata confirmed there would be an effect (on the Zen thread - tnx for the link...) but didn't have first-hand experience so I'd like to double-check whether I'd be doing the right thing.

Tnx...

Main drawback from my dunu sa6 are definitely the short nozzle concern, it jeopardizes a good isolation and corrupts sound restitution. very sad for this level.
I feel your pain. I still haven't found a silicone tip that I don't have to constantly fiddle with (right ear only). So far, I've settled on using large tips and just dealing with a shallow fit.
If you like foam tips, I find these ones are pretty good: https://www.amazon.ca/New-Comfortable-Replacement-Cancelling-Compatible/dp/B0713WPN8F. They're fairly long so you can get a deeper fit with them.
