Dunu DN-2000 - Hybrid Impressions Thread (It's Here!)

I’m becoming more and more impressed by the DN-2000. One thing (among many) to tell me how superb this phone is, is how very unforgiving it is with recordings with too much dynamic range compression. For example Sade’s non-compressed albums from the eighties sound absolutely marvellous through DN-2000; better than I ever heard them before. The synergy is phenomenal! Audio bliss! In stark contrast is Sade’s album “Soldier of Love” from 2010. It really suffers from the compression, which is really sad as I feel it is definitely one of her best albums, but I just can’t enjoy it through the DN-2000. Luckily I have my on-ear Sennheiser PX 100-II for that. (BTW, fantastic all-round phone the Senns, especially for the money!)

You bought yours new and it look like that? No way. I've had mine since 18th Dec '14 and it still look rather clean without cracks. But I see all these streak and graininess seen under flash so I don't think that's the problem. I remember it fell once but just from 10 cm height - the  heavy housing and supple cable make it fall so easy. But I always clean the earphone with eyeglass cleaning cloth and treat it with fatherly love

. These are taken with Samsung S5's and getting the clearest zoom-in was difficult.

Observe.

Wow, thank you very much!!! Pretty much confirms mine aren't new but used and a bit abused. Really sad! Anyway, I just love their sound and I just can't imagine there's anything wrong with it.
