I am looking for a great set of headphones to watch movies and play video games, preferably with 7.1 surround.

DTS Headphone X is new and intrigues me. I am curious how this new technology (maybe headphones from Turtle Beach) stacks up against something like the Sony HW 700.

Dedicated HDMI input

Optical Toslink input

It is my assumption that Optical only handles 5.1 surround. How does DTSX upconverts it to 7.1? Is it simulated? The Sony headphone takes in HDMI so 7.1 should be accessible.
