100+ Head-Fier
just for giggles i put DT770 80ohm drivers into Custom One Pro cups along with DT990(B) pads. i tried the DT770(B) pads but there was too much bass lol
anyway all i can say is these things rock. still a very 'in cup' sound but the sibilance has pretty much gone.
i also have DT880 600ohm for comparison and i much prefer the new DT-mongrels, the bass sliders are fun.
the DT770 drivers took a tiny bit of modding but they went in more easily that i was expecting. you have to remove the plastic 'crown' and acoustic ring. you also have to nip a bit of the black plastic on one of the left driver and shave down the cable guide closest to the cable input connector.
why did i do this? well.. i have had the 770's for 12 years and the cable was getting very brittle and eventually gave up. i had a pair of Custom Ones lying about that got a cooked driver so i thought what the hell lets have a giggle. well i'm giggling at the sound of these things.
