Are these two phones the same? I need to settle this once and for all. The only differences I can see are color of earpads, but are they the same phones?

keywords for search:
DT 770-80 770m 770-m beyerdynamic

I'm afraid they are same things. The DT770M is only one which has 80 Ω impedance in Beyer's DT770 line. It's the headphone that we usually called DT770-80.

Eh... sorry, but no. The DT770m has a volume control and had different properties.

From headphones.com.au:

Not the most comfortable headphone for home users, the 770M has less emphasis on bass than the other 770 models and a fairly dark overall sound making them a great choice for drummers who don't want listening fatigue.
The inline volume control is located high on the cord so it's easy to reach.
The DT770M includes a foam padded leather carrycase.

While these headphones are rated at 80ohms, they do not sound the same as the DT770 or DT770pro with amplification.

I have a question about the inline volume control: Do you expect it to be the same as any Radio Shack, Shure, etc volume control?

I was thinking of getting some DT770s anyway and splicing a volume control in, or I could just get these... I love the convenience
