I am looking for a new set of cans and was pretty set on getting the DT860 for under 200 at amazon. However, they are now out of stock and all the places are selling them for over $200 usd. So I currently own a set of HD465 and want to know if moving the beyerdynamic dt440 would be a better set of cans. I haven't seen these two compared at all. I listen to pretty much a wide range of music, so a set of cans that are pretty balanced for all types of music would be optimal. The HD465 is a good set, but the some of music comes out a little muddy and a bit covered, which I don't like to much. I do prefer open, or semi-open(whatever this really means). I would get the DT660 consumer model but it be prefect if it were open cans. I will be using this with my MBP, Samsung mp3 and Sony mp3 player.

Also if some could point to where one can get a the DT860 for under 200 that be cool. Thank you.

i have had a hd465 and a dt440. the dt 440 is a superior can in every way except warmth of bass.

The DT440 is surprsingly good. I picked a set up on Amazom when they were less than $50 a while back - worth every penny and then some.

Alright thank you. Anyone else want to chime in with a comparo saying if it is a better can or not? What about this K514 listed is that any good of a can?
