New Head-Fier
Today I finally got my DT-990’s, and got my first chance to listen to them on my stereo system.
Fit: 9/10
They feel terrific, and fit great. I appreciate the removable arch cover, and solid feeling ear pads, which help in elevating the listening experience. The cable is a wee bit annoying, but the length more than makes up for it. Overall, they are extremely comfortable to wear, and I oftentimes catch myself forgetting that I’m even wearing them
Sound quality 8.5/10
I’ve heard people describe good sound as being “3D” or “VR for your ears”. Neither of these terms begins to describe the sound of the 990’s. The bass is deep and powerful feeling, while the mids are equally included in this spectacular show, along with the top ends, which are crisp and clean. I picked these headphones because of their exceptionally flat sound range, especially at their cost (more on that later). Overall, I am extremely pleased with these headphones and their sound. My only complaint is the apparent lack of stereo sound, since I tested it with a stereo tester and it showed no signs of responding, but I can work on that issue later.
Build: 5/5
The headphones are sturdy, with metal parts and high quality plastic throughout the build, and a comfortable, ergonomic design.
Look: 4.5/5
These headphones are fantastic looking, they ooze a professional, dignified aura, while all the time looking stylish and up to date.
Overall: 27/30
I will be doing a ‘head-off’ between the 990’s and my Bose quiet comfort 35’s, to see which I prefer more. I have a feeling on who will win
