I've never found the DT880 to be lacking in bass, but perhaps that's just because of where I'm coming from (K401 and SR80 ... ). Obviously tastes vary, but I wouldn't really want much more bass than what's already there. My complaint with the DT880 is that the highs are too smooth for rock, and the mids sound a bit recessed to me (just a bit, though).

Soundstage is great, and the comfort is possibly the best I've experienced. That said, the HD650s didn't seem uncomfortable, but I only got to play with them briefly, so I won't compare the two.

I was torn between the HD600 and DT880 and had NO problem whatsoever choosing the HD600 over the 880. The 880 reminded me of the Sony 7506 with some harsh treble frequency and loose bass, but the worst part was the soundstage which was very confused. The mids were upfront in the center, while the bass and treble were on the sides! LOL! They felt very "loose" on my head and the build quality was not as top notch as I expected.

Wow, this thread has seen many DT880 fans raise their head after the blows taken lately from the HD650 supporters.

Thanks to everybody. I went the Beyerdynamic way. I opted to buy from Meier Audio as they are sponsors for this forum. Furthermore, Jan was very kind in helping me decide when I was looking for an amp, even if I ended up buying it second hand... so... I felt I owed him one.

I'm now quite curious to compare the 880 to my UE-10...

I just got my DT 880 two weeks ago and I love it. I may actually sell my K501 and MS-2i and use some of the money to upgrade the cables for the DT 880 because I just prefer to listen to music so much more out of these. I think I really just need one really good set of full sized cans anyway.

Congrats on your choice then!

I've also been interested in the DT880, please tell how you like them with your amp as soon as you can...

I bet you will appreciate better dt800 over what you would have with hd650.

The bit colder signature of dt800 make em better suited for rock imho - and also probably little closer to UE sound sign.

Did you know many here concurr/red to call them "neutralizers" ?

Buy them already. You don't need no opinions any more.

If you don't like them you can sell them.

Also, I should say, I'm fond enough of both my sennheisers to not be tempted so irresistibly...
