I've had a pair of Beyer DT770's for about a month now.  They sound excellent, but wearing them for more than an hour makes the top of my head hurt.  No matter how I adjust the headband, it just doesn't help.  Is there anything I can do to make them more comfortable, like getting a different headband or something?

Try putting a few Books between them for a night, or a few Days.

Do you have the Pro or the Edition version? The last one has less force against your ears, and sits "softer".

These are different from the ones that come with DT 770's?

Heya,

Correct. They're generic. But the headband works great. I use these on my Hifimans, Denons and Beyers. Fits them all just fine. Snaps on. Snaps off. Adds a whole new set of padding. Very comfortable. Takes pin point pressure off your scalp.

Very best,

Huh, the Beyers are supposed to be extremely comfortable. I love my DT770s. You could try the generic headband, I really enjoy those on not so comfortable headphones.
