I'm planning to buy the dt 770 for Bach's organ music, for the great deep bass response it requires.
I already own the HD600 but I'm not very satisfied with its not so very strong deep bass.
So I'm wondering if anyone compared the two versions.
I'm oriented on 80 ohm, because the 250 ohm seems very hard to drive (only 96 db spl on 250 ohm).
Is there any loss in the sound?
Thanks

Do a search. IronDreamer has been posting quite a bit about his dt770/80, and he likes it very much. I heard it at Guitar Center and found that it was a little too bright for me. The general word seems to be that its less bright that the 250 ohm version though.

Yep the search reveals impressions that the 80 ohm doesn't have a loss in sound - in fact the quality of sound is improved over the 250 due to its more balanced presentation - tho the Mids are still recessed, which seems to be a signature thing in these cans - or they might not be recessed, just totally overwhelmed by the big bass. I'll let you know when I get my pair next week!

Definitely get the 80 ohm version, I've owned both, and the question is a no-doubter to me. The 80's have more balanced mids (still a bit recessed compared to the HD650) and less peaky treble (though it still has a peak somewhere around 7-10kHz). The bass is just as powerful and deep. And you don't have to fuss with the coiled cord.

the k501??
perhaps the hardest can in the world: it needs almost two amps to rise to life (I owned it).
I'll go definitely with the 80...
