From what I've read, the Oppo BDP-93 can playback native DSD only through its HDMI-1 port. Would I be able to transmit that data through an HDMI cable connected to the I2S HDMI input of my DAC. I do most of my listening through headphones so I'd like to listen to my SACDs through that medium, though of course I am fond of the DSD codec.

From my understanding I2S is not the same as HDMI. Some DACs use I2S as in input but this is proprietary to the DAC manufacturer. They want you to use the same brand transport with the DAC. For example the PS audio DAC I2S input is only compatible with the PS audio transport.
