a few years ago I had a pair of AKG k340's which I drove from the speaker terminals of my sugden A48 Mk11 amp.

I'm now thinking of buying HD580/590/600 but can't afford a seperate headphone amp at present.

If the volume from the headphone jack on the sugden is not sufficient is it possible to drive these phones from the speaker output?

Relax, I'm not selling it myself. I just saw it and thought he would find it interesting if for no other reason that it pretty much shows that it is possible to do what he wants properly.
