I've decided that since I am building a budget system that I should probably build my own sub. I've decided to build a tuba sub with an 8in. driver. Except I have no experience with buying just drivers.... any Recommendations?

Get WinISD Pro or some other program and sim a few drivers in your price range, places like Madisound are where you can shop. Figure out what box works for the driver you pick. Exotic/esoteric designs are...complicated. Find a guide online that explains what you want for a given box and there's probably a spreadsheet to calculate ideal T/S params (or conversely, take T/S and give you box dimensions).
