There have been a few threads on games..but this one is a question, not a review.
Anyway my rig is in my signature.

I wanted to know if anyone else gets the harsh distortion in DA:O
Especially with Shales attacks, like when she punches the floor..

I've decided to stop using her because of the painfully distorted sounds, and she's my fave character!

I just tested and it sounds like rock sounds without distortion.

Can you describe the distortion, and how often does it happen in the game? Does it happen in other games? Are you also playing music simultaneously?

I close everything except skype when playing games.
The same kinda distortion like when someone plays an acoustic guitar on blogTV/Skype and uses a crappy microphone.
That sorta harsh shhh/buzzing/crackling sound that stops you hearing anything else.

Can you try it with skype turned off? When I try playing bioware games while playing music it has this very audible static noise, is that what you are hearing?

You should turn off anything that might play audio or audio clips and see if the problem still happens. If this fixes it then the problem is that your onboard spdif output acts up from multiple audio streams, or the way bioware games do audio makes it that way.

Shale? What companion is that? I thought I only missed Sten but you maybe get different companions if you are a dwarf or a templar or something
