they are close to top-of-the-line noise cancelling headphones. "Noise cancelling" being the key phrase, and the limiting factor. They are in their own category, and we can compare them to other gadgets, like the slim Sony single speaker that is supposed to create a 3D effect-- they are good at what they do, which is look slick and sound somewhat like what they are trying to imitate, but overpriced and rubbish (in comparison to that half-decent 5.1 surround sound system).

I'd rather go with with some Denon, AKG, or Sennheiser for some closed headphones. They just offer more refinement in SQ.
they were the 1st premium headphone i tried and nothing about them made me think "WHAALLLLL"
These headphones are very good for jazz music.
Inside, they have an amplifier and are very good at listening to old music
