I just received my new DT 1990s. I have my HE400is and PM-3s. I'm comparing them with stuff like Dire Straits, Steve Winwood, Janis Ian, and the Mahler Symphonies.

Here are my observations. The HE400is are a bit midrange-y and are weak on bass. The PM-3s also seem a bit midrange-y - maybe even shouty, but have good bass. And the 1990s have decent bass, but somewhat recessed vocals, and an almost artificial sounding high end in the 8 to 10 KHz range that give sibilants and cymbals an artificial crispness.

All around, I think the 1990s sound best, but I'm going down the rabbit hole of OCD over-analyzing. I need the community's input.

I would also be interested in hearing input on the 1990s versus the Focal Clears - especially concerning bass extension and punch.

I'm just a little lost in OCD land, and need advice - and rescuing...
