NOTE:
On the "Rank the Headphones that You Own" thread, I changed amplifiers, re-ranked the same [4] sets of headphones and attempted to post the results.
Rewrote/significantly revised the follow-up post multiple times, combatting--without success--the same recurring [and progressively annoying] "Double Posting" error.
[These forums seem to get worse with every "improvement".]
Don't understand the logic--if any--of the algorithm being used.

So now there is a ban on two consecutive posts on the same thread(?).

I think it is a really bad rule. Sometimes I visit a thread and I want to make my own comment, then I see someone else's post and I want to reply to it. Its very easy for me to just post that as 2 separate posts. Now I have to almost plan it all out like I am submitting an article for publication or something instead of being free form.

Another example is I tend to post an update in our vegan friendly headphone thread when a new headphone is announce that is vegan friendly. Then... on another day theres another headphone so I like to post again to bring attention to the new headphone... but now I can't unless someone else has replied to my prior post. Its annoying.

Come on head-fi was this really such a big problem that you had to block it ?

It doesn't help that I am terrible at using the "quote" feature. I have to go read up on how to actually make that work.

I posted in reply to two complete different thread topics and got a warning that I couldn't create a double post. I am sure I'm at fault, but I just there fumbling around with my post for awhile and end up only replying to one of them as I can't figure it out. LOL

I ran up against this new "improvement" the other day and think it's asinine.

For example (and this is my actual example) if I post an Interest Check thread in the Regional Meets forum, and it's struggling to get traction, after a couple weeks I might add a "really? No interest?" reply as a way of bringing the thread back into focus. I guess that's impossible now.

Posted on the T1 Gen.2 thread, then was blocked from immediately replying to another post on the same thread but on a topic unrelated to my initial post. The "double posting" ban makes ZERO sense in this case and actually prevents further discussion on the forums.

I am too stupid to use it... I just tried to figure it out again since I wanted to respond to two different users' posts. No luck. So just responded to one of them... it was a real Sophie's Choice, LOL.

It’s a ridiculous rule. I encountered it a few times in the last week. I ended up simply editing my previous post as I was the last one to post in a thread. But that means the thread does not get moved up to the top of the list in the section. So my edits may not get viewed for a long while. The only reason I can see this rule being made is to avoid spammers. Otherwise it’s nonsense.

Yeah, not sure what is up... I am also seeing a lot of double, triple, and even quadruple of the exact same posts on some of the classified listings and in the forums.

It's a really unfortunate experience. I am responding to as many threads related to it as possible lol.

If double posting is an issue because of people post count chasing, data, or whatever.. you can easily make this a less consequential solution by adding a 24hr, 48hr, timestamp rule. For threads that are less active or are related to individual impressions/expression rather than dedicated product threads it just absolutely kills engagement and useful conversation. Hopefully it's changed very soon.

It is a pain in the arse.

If there is some problem that this measure is supposed to fix find another way to correct the problem rather than this idiotic approach that creates various problems for legitimate users.

I have run into the situation several times and I am not trying to spam anything or do anything dodgy in the slightest. Yet at the same time I see people posting exactly the same content in several different threads one after the other.

This has been flagged and discussed already:

https://www.head-fi.org/threads/una...ting-in-a-thread-ive-quoted-in-before.975690/

https://www.head-fi.org/threads/no-...te-some-of-the-music-subforum-threads.975686/

The admins have gone quiet on this. Not sure they will revisit/revise their decision.

If yours is a genuine 'niche' thread (i.e., a specialised topic with only one or two real contributors posting most of the content, consider joining this group:

My guess: a forum software update was installed, and it included a tickbox along the lines of "Enable forum safety and spam enhancements? (see pages 14-19 of README file)" and even if some of those enhancements demonstrably erode the user experience, the admins have decided this is a hill worth dying on.
