I'm confused, can you use your dedicated amp off you sound card too? or just your potable source?

you can used it out of anything pretty much, but preferably something with a line or rca out and the like. Works better if the signal sounds good.

oh ok, and what do you mean signal sound?

also, with my soundcard, the hard drive noises seem to be amplififed for my displeasure. will an amp get rid of that noise?

Yup...a phrase to consider is "crap in, crap out". No need to spend big bucks on an amp if your source and headphones aren't up to the challenge.

well, my source is SB audigy Audio B400? and my headphones are the senheiser 212 pros and soon to come, a pair of hd555.
