First post - hope I don't screw up my rep right off the bat!

If, like me, you have the ER6i and were immediately unimpressed with the fit of the flanges and didn't like the idea of carrying around those bacteria sponges called foam tips - you should really consider getting your hands on a set of Shure soft-flex tips.

The Shure sound isn't for me - but their tips are far better for my ears than anything that Etymotic offers. I even had Etymotic send me samples of their small and large two-flange tips, but their fit just wasn't comfortable.

Yes, this topic has been posted on before, but I thought a success-story post was in order. If I hadn't found the Shure tips, my first post title would instead have read: FS - ER6i.

Actually, this is exactly what I did with my ER6i, and it does make them quiet a bit more comfortable. As long as the tips don't come off in your ears, that is

comfort rocks. Just remember: when you pull off that flex-tip, you WILL pull out the filter - or rather, the filter will remain lodged in the tip. quite annoying, i must say, so chose the right size tip the first time...

would this also work for the ER6 canalphones?

bump, I'd really like to know if this would work for the ER6 as well, since they have a larger barrel.

Binkgle,

The small and medium shure tips will NOT come off in your ears. They squeeze on tighter than the included Ety tips. The large soft-flex might come a little loose - because of the longer stem - but I doubt it.

Also, if the filter comes loose when I pull off the eartips, do I need to replace the filter or can I just reattach it? I reattached it and I don't think there is a sound quality issue, but maybe I'm missing something.

Actually, you can avoid pulling the filter loose by rotating the ear tip clockwise whilst removing it from the ER6i. Actually, come to think of it, the soft grey flex sleeves have never come off in my ear with the Etys, but has a bad habit of doing this with my E4 for some reason.

i read a review that said the er-6is were a bit lacking in mids. is this true? how do the shure tips affect the sound?
