Doesn't it make you shudder when people buy cheap turntables like this?

I hate to be a snob but.... an $80 turntable? come on. I wouldn't use an $80 cartridge. not everyone is into this stuff though. still, if they take the time to put their vinyl on the computer.i'd think they at least want it to sound good. honestly you can get a great vintage tt for like $300 or a used technics. id rather use the sound on my mobo than that pos.

Trouble is, you can get cheap as chips electronics these days that are perfectly acceptable.  The kids expect the same to be true of turntables, not realizing that there's a limit to how cheap good mechanical engineering can get.   I usually tell them to forget vinyl unless they can afford a ProJect Debut or Essential.

And on them they put limited edition records that go for $30+ a piece on them. If they like the sound, who am I to judge? But putting records that only a few hundred were produced of on those record killers, tis a tragedy.

I bought a turntable when it cost around U$150 brand new in the shop. I sold it years later for about U$500. You can now buy one 2nd hand for about $800. It is still the same turntable, but the ticket price has gone up. So price alone is not a determining factor.
