I picked up a zune 80 now that it's avaiable in Canada, I had to give it a shot.
Other then not having a line out, I am quite impressed with it, especially with it's podcast support which is superior to the iPod.

Anyway, my problem is, that when it's fully charged and I use it for say just an hour. By the next day morning the battery is dead.
I know that the Zune does not really power down and is in sleep mode or something but I still woudn't expect the battery to completely drain overnight.

I also turned the wireless off but still the same.

Hold the back button and down on the d-pad, this will actually turn it off.

I've heard about this issue, you can turn it off completely, like Gautama said, but it shouldn't drain nearly that much on stand-by, mine doesn't. If I were you, I'd exchange it for another.

Yes, I know of that option. But I was still wondering if it should behave the way it is. I can't imagine if I have an almost fully battery when I go to bed that it's drained when I wake up.

Something is definitely wrong with it. Time to either return or exchange it!

did you perform a battery calibration ?

Try resetting it after fully charging and see if the situation improves. if it doesnt time to exchange.
