Does this amplify the signal, twice?

DAC LINE OUT > Active sub RCA in > Active sub RCA out > Active speaker RCA in

If it is, is there a correct way to approach this?

No it doesn't. The input on an active sub just splits the signal through an L-Pad or whatever that kind of circuit is called, one output going into its own low-pass crossover and into its subwoofer mono amplifier, and then the other signal path routs the signal right back out.

The sub likely has a y-splitter inside it - if you opened it up its likely those jacks are wired common with a bus bar, and it draws the signal from that (into probably a relatively high impedance) and filters that into its own amplifier. As far as the speakers are concerned, the sub probably doesn't even exist. It *may* be a more elaborate crossover, but that would be rare. :xf_eek:
