I was looking at how pricing was nowadays and I see the IE8 at $145.00. This can't be right.

I would call Sennheiser and see if Johnny's Cellphones is listed as an authorized retailer. If not, I would steer clear.
 
I just got some factory refurb IE6's for $55 shipped from an authorized reseller (ADG I believe) and they look brand new and sound great! Granted I am more of a mid-fi guy so I may be easier to please but I can't imagine finding a better IEM for the same money.

they're not in the non-authorized list, so maybe you'll get lucky and they'll overlook that it was bought by a 3rd party Amazon merchant vs Amazon themselves?  I was able to get warranty service on a pair I bought from the marketplace, before they made this list (that merchant is on it now though). YMMV.
