Just found my old 1G iPod dock and wondering if it still works with the new iPod? The reason being it has a line out which will be handy.

thanks

Docking ports were introduced with the third generation iPod (with the row of touch buttons under the screen). So is the dock you have from that "era"? Anyway, give it a try when you get the player, and see. Maybe it will be fine. Otherwise, docks are available as (overpriced) accesories from Apple, and from various other manufacturers.

I have a 2nd generation iPod "for Windows" paperweight (always had iPod's miserable early battery) that I wish had a docking port, so I could at least play it through a home stereo and plugged into "wall" current.
