Does the 1400 bit rate ape has a better SQ than that of 500 bit rate?

Very well written. Thank you so much. So is there anyway to tell if a lossless file is of good quality, in terms other than bit rate. Could anything go wrong when the data are ripped off the cd and converted to flac.

Or maybe an even simpler example:

Say you're given an image, and asked to remember it well enough that you can draw a perfect copy later.

There are a couple programs that can check if a file is lossless, though they aren't foolproof.
You can also check yourself using a program that can display the sound spectrum. I'm not very good at that, though so i can't really explain how :)

That's alright. I have all I need to know now, thank you. It all started the other day when my friend bragged about how his files are all 1411kbps and mine are all below 1000. Now I'm not upset.

Re-encode your files as 24/192 WAV and brag back. "Your files may be 1411 kbps, but mine are 9216!"
