As headline --->
.....Does "Onkyo SE-U55SX2" work under Vista 64bit and Linux 64bit

Also what's the headphone out max power? I need max 200 mW 62 ohms (for my AKG K 702).

It does not have a headphone amp, and it should works under Windows Vista/7 any flavor, for Linux I haven't tried. I don't have it anymore.

Thank you thuantran

Official specs say Win 7 (32bit & 64 bit), Win Vista only 32 bit.

Question is why not Vista 64.
Because i can use most 32 bit software with my 64bit Vista.
Only thing that doesn't work is Canon Scanner software / driver with my vista (worked under XP). Canon didn't make new driver.
Now i must buy VueScan or Silverfast.

I do need the 64 bit os because of memory requirements for my 3D CGI software applications.

ah the SX2, didn't know they release that, my experience was with the former gen. But from the look of it this one also does not have headamp. The first one hp output was kinda disappointing compared to DAC out.

I think it's the same, just black color version
SX = White
SX2 = Black

Maybe i but Logitech z-2300 speakers in between. Now i get good strong output from their headphone out.

From http://www.onkyowavio.com/11-onkyo-wavio-se-200pci-ltd.html

# OS: WindowsR2000 professional (SP3 a výše), XP (SP1 a výše), Vista (None of them corresponds to 64bit edition); System manager authority (Administrator) with only it is enabled

Weird even the USB version.
Am i correct usb will just copy audio data file from PC to sound card.
Like uncompressed audio wav form 1411 kBit/s will be sent to sound card memory buffer

So let's say i buy the sound card and after 5 years there will be 128 bit Windows 9.
Then in some reasons external device will not work anymore even thow all connection interfaces have been standards for a long time.

What's the point of such half baked device?
