I been wondering something: what is the preferential plating material? I assume gold plated is the most common/considered best. But, what about rhodium plated? Is there a specific benefit to have that over gold plated or even silver plated?

Rhodium plating doesn't have benefits over gold in my opinion. Silver is more conductive than either gold or rhodium but of course tarnishes over time.
