hi there , i owned a dt990 600ohm with schiit bifrost and lyr2 . sold it 1 year ago and yes , it was a mistake .. i miss it alot ...

so now i was planning to get some equipment back... i was thinking on buying some IEM like the ATH-e40 ... but i never owned any of these kind of headphones (in ear)

im looking for something more portable than the setup i had ... i could get some dt990 back but i would use dragonfly .. so that mean dt990 32 ohm i guess .. or maybe 250ohm ...

but i could also try ATH-e40 and dragonfly ...!?

im going to use it for gaming and movies ...   any suggestion ?

Depends on your definition of 'perform'.

In terms of SQ, they have different signature. Headphone often feels more spacious and IEM feels intimate. It's known that it's very difficult for IEM to beat headphone soundstage and 3D imaging.

Their perceived resolution also different. I feel that IEM often more resolving (because of BA?) in low volume compared to headphone, and surprisingly has more natural feel.

In terms of comfort, CIEM all the way :D. You won't find CHeadphone anywhere, will you?

I'm an IEM guy, so this has absolute bias :).
