Hey all-
Before I decide to go headfirst into vinyl, my Dad recommended that I borrow his turntable, which is a JVC JL-A40. According to him, it was a mid-fi table back in the mid 70's. The cartridge on it is the original. I was thinking of building a Hagerman Bugle Stage myself, and then plugging away on the few vinyl recordings I have right now. I also plan on buying a Grado Black or Green cart for it? Would that be a wise idea? Is this TT worth upgrading or keeping?

p.s. I want to buy a Rega Planar 2 sometime in the future, how big of a step up would that be?
