My sister had 2 panasonic cdplayers from that era (panasonic) and they both broke (we got replacements for both, and those broke too), so I'd highly recommend against panasonics like that, and their service is worse than sony's

The thing is, I've had this one since 1994 and it still works well other than the skip/search button sticking a little. The remote is nice; it has A-B repeat.

that remote is awesome, if sony made one with that, it'd cost 200 dollars to replace

I picked up the Panasonic SL-S250C in 2000, from a friend who was just going to toss it out.
It looked okay, but I just put it on my shelf and never used it.
A few months later I was cleaning out my room and I decided to try it. (I assumed that something was wrong it with)

It actually worked fine!

I've been using it almost daily for 3 years now, and after dropping it TOO many times, there's a moderate sized crack on the front. However, it still plays!
The only problem I have with it is that it skips easily and it eats up batteries.

The date of manufacture was November 1994...not too often that you get a CD player, bang it up and use it all the time and it's still working 10 years later!
