This idea come out of one of my comments so I decided to start a thread on its own.

I think most of us (me included in some ways) do suffer from HPES - High Price Earphone Syndrome !

Meaning we only feel good and accomplished when we buy costly earphones but tend to forget in many cases (bolded to opposite to "all" which is not what I mean) its just marketing hype to steal our money or suport a growing company structure (i.e. the bosses wallet)!
Then we go and try to justify the money we´ve spend with unmeasurable (i.e. totally subjective) sound profiling details just not to look like fools! lol

Example, I regularly deal with chinese companies (out of Shenzen) for the imports of my small business. We all know chinese manufacturing system do allow their companies really low cost production (joining the best and the worst of both socialism and capitalism). If I am presented with a product reselling for 10$ and there is any kind of hype on related forums and the original company knows that (either from me saying it or themselves reading forums) where people will take an interest suddenly the resell price doubles or triples! also most of times the end quality will suffer.
Offer and demand at it´s best (or worst)

So not only in many exportable items we are not only their lifeblood but also their fools (pun intended)

your thoughts ..?

Look up the paradox of choice. Price points make many people turn their heads, not just for headphones but for products. For example... I sell two products, A and B. A for 15 and B for 30. You'd automatically think the B was better even if the specs were the same... and any difference you would think I justified by the higher price.
