I'm with mkmelt on this one.
I used loudness more often with speakers, but my grado and akg did NOT really improve much using loudness switch???
However, whatever it take to sound bettter is the key and currently I'm not using it with my headphones set up.

As my current set up has no tone controls at all - no.
At very low volumes I sometimes use loudness on my office set up though. At higher volumes I find it highly unnatural. And with phones I'd only use it on some personal if the respective phones were bass light.

None of my amps or receivers have loudness anymore.

I used to use it on an old NAD.

I don't use loudness. The original idea isn't totally unfounded from human perception POV, but there are various problems in implementing it (technical, philosophical, perceptual). See the below thread for more discussion:
