So I was in Best Buy in front of the headphones section, putting on Studio Beats and going "WOOOOWWW!!!!" for no reason whatsoever. (I know I'm weird.) This middleaged woman was next to me watching me, and after I took them off she asked me, "they're good right?"
I was like "No, no, these are overpriced, there are headphones around $100 that could do waaaay better than these. Trust me they aren't made that well and they give you a lot of bass but if quality is what you're after, these aren't what you're looking for."
So then she told me her son was wondering about Beats and wanted a pair of headphones to bring back to Africa. Personally I've only ever really gotten the AD700 so it's not like I can rattle off quality models off the top of my head, so I promptly wrote out www.head-fi.org on a notepad, ripped out the note, and gave it to her. I told her, "if your son really wants good headphones, tell him to go to this site and do some research, these people can help him out."
