I was just thinking that a powered USB hub would provide power to any attached DACs via its own DC power instead of the power from the computer USB port.  That still leaves the matter of how clean the hub's own AC-DC circuitry compares to that of the computer.

Good question, not all hubs and power adapters are created equal however i would bet it will be an improvement as its less polluted by noise from other components within the computer.   I would consider a good quality powered hub as a half way house to a USB isolator setup.

I think I'm just going to pick up one of those $30 USB isolators and not do any guesswork on the part of a hub.
