If amps and HP's do...what about microphones?

I've had some beauties...from the EV's to Shure to Neumann...and it never occurred to me they'd require 'break-in.'

Ideas?

Mics need to be calibrated. As does the calibrator. But who calibrates the calibrator? Are they calibrated?

Since microphones are headphones in reverse (at least as far as I understand them), if you believe in burn-in of one, you have to believe in the burn-in of the other.
