I'm planning on a purchase of a rather costly pair of IEMs and would like to seek advice if IEMs which are used occasionally or stored in the box for a long time, unused say 1-2 years or more will deteriorate or get damaged.

Thanks.

I'm not very knowledge-full or experienced when it comes to IEMs, but I don't see why they would deteriorate fast if stored safely in their own box out of Sun in reasonable conditions (humidity, temperature etc.). Why do you fear they could deteriorate?

However, maybe you should reconsider investing money on "rather costly" IEMs if you are planning to use them only occasionally. You might find better use for the money elsewhere, but of course that is your business. :relieved:

When stored in a sealed box for a long time, I just add some desiccant in the box.
