Do I need to sand rhodium plating

I'm terminating a cable and Furutech says that for their Rhodium connector I "may" need to sand the rhodium plating on the contacts. Is this actually necessary before soldering?

It's not always necessary. It depends how hot your iron can get, rhodium is a bit harder to solder to, it needs a higher temperature and the solder won't wick as far so needs holding at temperature longer. But if the iron can't go high enough then it'll just blob and not flow.
