I am looking for new headphones and I found two nice looking Over-ears. The thing is that I don't know do I need an amp. (or DAC)
 
The headphones are Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7 and Sony MDR-1A.
 
I'll be listening from my laptop and Samsung Galaxy S5.
 
So. Do I need an amp for either of those? Thank you for your help.

Both of those cans are style models and designed with portable use and efficiency in mind. Short answer is no, you should not need an amp and your smartphone should be capable of driving them both just fine.

Thank you. I was just told that they won't be good for mobile use and need an amp.
