Do i need an amp or not ?

Hi im new in this forum, i came here because i want to buy a headphone for my htc one m8 (who has the best audio quality in the smartphone market of what i heard) and i choose the philips fidelio x1 but now i wanna know : will the htc m8 drive good the headphone or do i absolutely need a dedicated amp for this ?

Depends on other things. For example my iMac has pretty high output impedance. So for low impedance headphones it actually sounds very staticky.

Using an amp with low output impedance solves the issue. Also higher difference between output impedance and headphones impedance improves control.

But in your case the phone should have low enough output impedance.

I know that the Fidelio X1 has an impedance of 30-Ohms, that's not much, isn't it ?

 
Chances are just about anything can drive a 30-Ohm headphone.
Philips would be a "little dumb" to sell headphones that to not work well plugged directly into portable devices.
