Another ignorant newbie here - so the E-MU 0404 USB sound card / midi interface is as good as an external dac?
How about the E-MU EM8803 24-bit/192kHz ? (same price as the 0404 Amazon.com: E-MU EM8803 24-bit/192kHz Professional Quality PCI interface with 4 Inputs & 4 Outputs plus MIDI: Musical Instruments )
The 0404 comes in external usb and internal pci versions - are they the same quality of sound?
The 0404 seems like overkill for someone like me who just wants good sound from the computer with headphones. (and already has an amp with no DAC in it) Is there a version with good sound but less connectors that is cheaper?
