I am planning on getting an HD800 to watch movies with on my HDTV. Just wondering if getting a DAC would improve the sound quality or not? Do I want one?
Do I need a DAC? HD800 for watching TV

If the DAC will be better than the One in your TV, then yes. My guess is you probably need a better one.

Are you seriously asking if you need a dac for your $1,500 headphones? Yes, yes you do. And while you're at it, get an amp too.
