Yep, thanks for that, that was nice to read. 
 
I too have an original Sonett paired with Senn HD 800 and love it.  Mullard 5AR4 and Reflektor 6H30 kicked it up a notch for sure.  So tempted to get the Sonett 2 just because, and I'd even put them side by side.

I'm highly anticipating my S2 with BG upgrades...I think my build is on deck !

i found and shipped off to Donald 4x BG NX [size=small]470uF capacitors which serve the role of cathode bypass for each triode section...they were rather dear as well...[/size]
 
[size=small]all told ~$425usd worth of cap upgrades...[/size]

Should be a very special amp. You can tell a lot of love goes into Donald's creations.

currently burning (50hrs+) in the BG's with the stock tubes (waiting for 200hrs to employ the mullard and nos reflektors) ....FR seems a bit varied at times....however the depth of the SS is excellent, width, thus far, perhaps above average....
