Hello folks!
I picked up some Canton Karat 20 for about $160 a couple of weeks ago! They sound great, but they each need a nice perch. Here they are (excuse phone pictures):
Here they are on my college desk:
Grills off (velvet driver surrounds...?):
ACMoore false columns; great temporary stands for $10 each
Canton logos installed (still had them in stock from the late 1980s)
Good use of textbooks after finals:
Makeshift home setup:
The receiver you keep seeing is a Marantz 2250B, up close here:
Anyway, the intended purpose of this thread is for you guys to hopefully give feedback for a speaker stand idea that I have (the pictures were a sort of "thanks in advance" because everybody loves pics).
So far, here's what I plan:
It will consist of three 12" x 15" panels of glued-oak countertop separated by three triangularly-arranged black steel pipes 1.5" in diameter.
The bottom panel will be bonded to the black pipes via a flange at the bottom. In the middle, three respective couplers will support the second oak board by weight, leading to a third panel at the top attached to the rest of the structure via another flange. The reason for the three panels is for me to store records on the speaker stand.
What do you guys think? Clarifications perhaps?
