First Cmoy DIY. please recommend an op-amp for me. Where do I get it, how much does it cost?

Check Tangent's notes on audio opamps for starters. Pay close attention to the voltage ratings to make sure that you've got enough power and to the form factor to make sure that it's the right size (you're probably looking for an 8 pin DIP, not an SOIC).

As far as I can recall, all of the opamps that he reviews are available from Digi-Key.

My personal favorite for a CMOY amp is the OPA2227.

Hmmm... looks like I misplaced my dunce cap, eh? OPA2227 are burr-browns...*smacks head repeatedly.*

I think what I meant to say, and what I think you managed to read despite my error, is that I like the 2227 much more than the 132/134 chips.
