I was wondering if it was even possible to create a midi to USB cable. I don't want to buy a crap cheap cable and I'd rather pick my own parts and colors. So is it possible to make this cable or do I have to make 2 Midi to Midi then get a seperate midi to usb hub.

Thanks

PS. Can I do Midi to XLR if not USB?

I'm not entirely sure what exactly you are trying to accomplish, but you'll need a converter box to get MIDI to USB, MIDI-XLR just won't work.

What exactly are you trying to do? MIDI is not your average signal/device.

All MIDI cables do is carry commands for MIDI controllers. You play a key on a MIDI keyboard, and the cable carries information of what note, what velocity, what patch, etc. to some external MIDI-compatible device. So I can't even think of what you're trying to do. MIDI cables aren't audio cables.

If you're trying to hook your keyboard up to your computer, to use with a sequencer or something, you need a MIDI adapter, and that is more than just splicing a MIDI cable to USB. You need to buy that, can't really make it yourself.
