I'm curious:

Has anybody yet tried to build their own headphone?

I mean this in a broad sense; Has anybody constructed an instrument for audio playback in its entirety. (Not necessarily including the driver itself-- although that would be just as, if not more impressive.) If so, how did you do it? To those who haven't, would you want to? And to anybody interested, would you buy a DIY headphone?

Yes. Several times, and I'm working on 2 much more ambitious ones at the minute.

One an orthodynamic with the largest radiating surface of any ortho ever, the other a mix of the STax 4070 and the Ergo AMT.

I'm too drunk to post in detail, but there was a great thread on this topic not that long ago which really shoudl get bumped instead of this new one takign over.
