They've really changed things around with the iPod Touch 4G. From what I've been reading, it doesn't have a stereo line input anymore: that's been changed to a digital USB input. I don't know what the status of the audio output is, it could be digital too. And no one seems to be in a hurry to make anything for the newest iPod Touch cause the talk is all iPhone and iPad. According to the latest stats, the iPods only account for 12% of Apple's current business. Your only option right now is to use the headphone jack for an audio out.
The only legitimate way to get the newest pinouts is to become an Apple Hardware developer, for which you already have to be a company, and will have to sign a serious NDA for the privilege.
I'm looking for those pinouts too... but I'm not about to start a company just for that.

have you tried looking into some commercial docks out there? I tried my lod with a 4g touch last time and it didnt work either, but well since I have an imod already that wont be much of an issue to me.
